i just bought a 2001 john deere 4710 with a 460 loader, i match and york rake. tractor has 740 hours. is $17500 a good price

I can't speak for the forced air systems, but I installed an in the floor heating system in my shop (3200 sq. feet), and it's a fairly easy project. Lots of info in available on the internet:

i don't think they would work for me...i have a pretty good bank that i mow that requires the 4-wheel drive...they say the fel loaders are easy on and easy off...are they safe when stored in barn? i have three young children that like to play in the barn...

I could use some help getting on track to diagnosing a situation with the 18 h.p. Kohler engine on my model 1806. It seems to be temperamental and I have to run it with a little choke. Power is down somewhat. I am guessing that it is not getting enough fuel if I have to choke it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the input Steve. The dealer has a good reputation in our area. However, I felt the same way. According to the dealer, The cable that runs to the hour meter was broken at 299 hours and they estimate that there were only an additional 50 hours put on the machine. Based on the appearance of the machine, Ii would guess that it does not have a lot of hours on it. However, the hydraulic system is a concern. I noticed that two small brackets were welded at the point where bucket tilts/pivots. The dealer explained that the loader was putting some kind of stress on the hydraulics because of the angle of the bucket. I'm not sure what came first, the loader problem or hydraulic. I would guess hydraulic. The loader is a Kubota model and I can't see why the bucket would be at such an angle as to cause stress on th hydraulics.

I have a JD 870, when I go to put it in gear after pressing down on the clutch, the tractor "jerks" forward a little bit. I have tried pressing the clutch down for a while but it still jumps forward when I go to put it in a gear F or R. The dealer isn't sure what is the matter he said it may be a linkage. Has anyone else had this problem? The tractor is still under warranty so JD will "try" to fix it. Thanks for any help!!

I have a John Deere 4200 HST, and I have to admit I was never happy with the way it came to a stop, no matter how gentle you are trying to be with the pedals. I had a John Deere 855 HST and that had a great Hydro Transmission on it. It came to gently slower stops, which allows you much more control. ON my new 4200HST no matter how I lift my foot from the pedels, the machine comes to a stop very abrupt, (not too bad on hard surfaces) but on grass it kills it.. just tears it up, My wheels do a very quick counter rotation when stoppping. not a nice thing.. I really wish they combined more of the 55 series, good points on this tractor with its good points.. If not for the better looks of machine, and loader performance, seat etc.. I wish I bought a left over 955 machine..

Kubota would be a very distant 2nd place runner with me.. I personally would rather have the John Deere.. For many reasons. Nobody makes a more user friendly Loader to pop on & off. The Hydrostacic pedals on A John Deere is hands down superior to Kubota. You can use your right & left pedals while operating Hydro Drive with a John Deere. Loader frame comes completly off on a JD. And the awesome universal lever stays on the tractor.. to control other impliments on JD. And the grill guard stays on tractor now too.. So, I don't know your financial situation but, if you have the means get the JD... and get 4wd HYDROSTATIC.. a 4200 HST or 4300 HST are both awesome tractors.. so don't pick the Kubota just because it seems cheaper... its like buying computers.. we all would be better off in the long run if we just spent a few extra bucks and got the Macintosh!!!<br>so don't cut yourself short..!!! get the JD if you can...

I wish I had the money right now! Because at that price it is definatly a Steal! I now have a John Deere 4200, which I love! But there are some things I liked a lot better and I miss that I had on my previous 855. By the way! I traded my 1987 855 Hydro, with 4WD, #52 LOADER, 60

I would like to know if Monroe-Tufline is much better than King Kutter. I'm going to purchase a 6 1/2' 3pt disc for my 7 acres. I will only use it a few times a year, I priced to identical disc, King Kutter $500 and Monroe-Tufline $900, is Monroe-Tufline's disc $400 better than King Kutter?

The 850 is an older tractor, the 870 replaced it (I have an 870), the 970 is just a few more horsepower and money. They no longer build the 870 nor 970 they are replaced by the 4000's series, but they have a 790 (about same as 970), I would get the 790 because it is built the same as the 870 and 970 and these tractors are built alot better than the 4000's!!
