Chief, I have to agree ... there was little more to say. I can say that in addition to admiring his humor, talent, and devotion to our military, one of my favorite quotes is from Bob Hope. In October of 1997, Mr. Hope was given the title "Honorary Veteran" through an act of Congress that was signed by the President. At the ceremony in the Capitol rotunda, Hope said: "I have been given many awards in my lifetime -- but to be numbered among the men and women I admire most -- is the greatest honor I have ever received." Graciously accepting the award, Mr. Hope again drew attention to those in military service and honored them. I will miss him greatly.

It's been over 100 all week in the Sacramento Valley. Yesterday 110. I came when it hit 104. Today was only 104, and next week will average 102. It's not so bad if you start work at sunup, and get used to the heat slowly. But after the day job it's hard to get outside when its this hot.

What s the matter The heat got you guys

I bought a used TroyBilt Tomahawk a few months back. It looks similar to the Bearcat except for color and the price. Built like a tank. I have trouble finding "organic" compost meeting the CEO's specs, so the chipper has helped and almost everything on the property gets chipped, shredded and composted. It does take time the quality of my compost has skyrocketed. Course I also just got chickens and they're adding more nitrogen. But smaller pieces to compost and chicken manure seem to be a winning combination.

If you loan it, and someone gets hurt bad, who do you think will get sued? You. When asked, my answer is "My insurance won't cover it." So far I've had no hard feelings.

Like Mark, a PHD is no problem on my 4100 and I don't think it's scaled down. It's a BushHog P2102, drills 4 feet down, doesn't drag when moving though there's not a great deal of clearance. Usually I use a 12" auger, but this past week I've used it quite a bit with a 9" auger for terminal post holes.

Mark, the 4100 was my first tractor so I opted for an HST, feeling safer with less to concentrate on while working. Now I sure a gear would have been fine. I can't imagine a better tractor for my 2 acres. Not too big but plenty of power and the work gets done quickly. I absolutely love it.

Plots1, I'm guessing the welding tools may cost less than the cost of front forks, but you said "they install the same way the bucket does." Did you buy brackets or build them yourself. If you bought them, where and at what cost?

I have a light duty trailer, but if I could make the decision over, I'd go with front quick-tach forks. I'm hoping to have front forks as my next attachment, and the trailer will quickly be history.

The PHD is the most difficult to manage, and few easy solutions. When stored, mine is chained to a corner of the barn, and hanging from a stand I built. When hooking it up, I use a hand winch to raise or lower it. Still a pain, but now its done safely and no problems. Many owners eventually build customized racks, stand, or frames to hold them. The one that's best is the one that works for you. I saw one for sale on Ebay once, and I'm sure there are more on the net.

I've heard algae is a problem in cold areas only. Moisture probably comes with the cold, or moisture condenses in the tank if the temperatures are right. Marine supply shops carry a diesel additive to keep algae from growing. It's also not a problem if you only store small amount of diesel for a short time. I imagine jet fuel tanks get pretty cold at times, maybe that's why they get it too.

I have two implements by Gearmore. A flail mower/shredder and a middle buster. Both are strong implements and trouble free. Construction is solid and I don't think I could hurt them. I chose a different tiller but only due to chance. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Gearmore tiller based on my experience with their other products.

Bernie, fortunately I didn't pay a "Deere price" for the brackets (the forks were enough). I've often thought of attaching them to things like 3PH forks. Forks for the 3PH are cheap compared to the forks for the loader. But a set of those brackets could turn the 3PH forks into loader forks with no bucket required. They'd be easier to attach and not as tippy as bucket forks. It also makes me wonder why they charge so much for loader forks!

Those who said W's appearance boosts troop morale are 100% right. And I think they'd be excited that he landed in a jet on their flight deck. It shows confidence in them and boosts the morale of all armed forces knowing the President supports them. He supported them by seeing them off to the war, and remembers them when they return. Another example of his leadership to all of us.

How bout the Commander in Chief on the USS
