I'm about to build a garage on an existing garage slab which was poured 6 years ago. I just found out from a neighbor, who was there when the slab was poured, that they didn't lay a vapor barrier. What are my options now from keeping my tractor, tools etc... from rusting? <br>

I'm helping a friend clean up the mess that Isabel left on his house and in his back yard. He had eight Red Oak trees fall - two of them hitting his house. Four of the tress are 24" - 30" in diamiter. We got everything cut into 4' sections. My question is - will my B2910 w/ 402 loader be able to lift a 30" x 4' section of red oak? Should I put chain around it and lift it with the tooth bar, or run the chain over the arm where the bucket pivots? <br>

Has anyone built their own trailer (7-10k lb rating)? If so, how difficult would it be for a novest welder, and is there a significant cost savings? <br>

TomG, I didn't take physics but I did take statistics and what I learned from that course is that one must compare apples to apples to get a halfway decent comparison : ) I don't have much experence with tractors but I'm sure whether it's an orange/blue/green etc... for what I'm going to use it for any of them would do just fine!

Art, my dealer told me to operate in 4wd all the time. Does that sound right to you?? If a tractor's drive train is anything like a 4wd p/u truck then that's bad advise. What is your opinion? I'm a newbie and my thinking is only use 4wd when needed.

I can't remember the name but my local dealer showed me a picture of screw-on/clamp-on bucket forks. I think they're rated for 1000lbs. Anybody know what I am refering to? And are they worth the $400s?

We just ordered an orange 2910 and a 1670. Even though the tractors and equipment sit outside at the dealer's, I want to keep them covered/protected from the elements. It could be 3 to 6 months before I can build the garage. Does anyone see anything wrong with covering them with a plastic tarp? I thought I read somewhere that condensation from the tarp might be a problem then leaving them uncovered!

Any thoughts...?

Thanks Art for that advise! BTW, I just called another dealer in the area and they want $1000 more then the dealer I got the first quote from. I'd like to know what your thought is on NOT buying a tractor from a local dealer?

A little off topic but since I started the post I guess it's ok -- I'm really confussed now about whether or not to use additives in my system. The system I have pumps the water from the holding tank up into the drain field. We had a float stick which in turn burned up the pump. I say all this because when the guy came out to replace the pump he said the system was working good because there was no solid waste, just liquid, coming from the holding tank. In another post there was a lot of debate as to use or not use additives, and to pump or not pump out the holding tank. I've been using additives and so far they seem to be working. I've been told that I shouldn't waste my money on the additives but just use "bread" yeast. Any comments as to whether bread yeast actually works and if so how much and how often should it be added; I have a 1000g system. If bread yeast works, I would imagine it would be the safest and cheapest!

Mark, riprap is stone that is used to prevent erosion. The size that I will be using will range from the size of a softball to as big as a football. That's why I don't want to get too small of a FEL. Foghorn
