I didn't start having "problems" with my 29D till at about 110 hours. First it was the PTO Safety switch, then I had trouble with the range selector (I just bent it up a little, seems to have helped), Now I am having problems with my steering. I guess the more things on a tractor - the more that can go wrong with it. Bout the only thing that works real good is my ROPS.

The ROPS on my 29D works great. Be glad you at least have a dealer who sends someone out. The only way my dealer will send someone out is to charge $90.00 an hour starting from the time they leave the shop till they return, plus $1.25 a mile. I live about 50 miles away. They gladly mail me the parts I need & that only takes 2 weeks. I count myself lucky to get that much.

I think the cylinder is going out on my TC29D steering. I've seen oil on the top of it & my steering wheel moves under pressure.

Hey Frank, congrads on the 35D. I'm sure you'll enjoy it a great deal. As for the question about R1 or R4; All three tires have their uses, and one is better in some areas than the other two. The way I see it, Turfs are best for lawns, R1's are best for farming/plowing working 80-90% of the time in loose dirt, & R4 are best all-around tires. They are easy on lawns, yet provide plenty of traction in dirt. They have more surface on the ground than R1's and seem tougher. Most construction contractors use R4's. They're great all around. We use R1's on our Ford 4100 "farm" tractor & R4's on the TC29D that's used mostly for loader work & mowing. As long as you stay off lawns with the R1's, I'm sure you'll be happy with either tire. New Holland Credit Co. was very particular about the insurance I had on my Boomer before they would finance it. State Farm provided them a statement, stating the tractor would be covered if ANY thing happened to it at ANY location, as long as it was for personal use (ie. Not for hire).

I went to buy an 18 or 21D w/ turf tires to use for mowing only & came home (a few weeks later) with a 29D, R4's, 7308 FEL, Land Pride mower, & Fork lift to be used for Everything. Glad I did.

We grow BoxWoods. Before we till the ground with a tractor mounted tiller, we remover the sod with a 2 yard track loader. This saves lots of tiller time & wear & tear on the tiller. Doing an area 75x75', it still takes a while using the track loader & all we remove is the sod. We did the samething when we built our shop. As for the drains - Yes! put them in the gravel. Use stakes to hold PVC in place. Once the slab is done you don't want to mess with it.

I did the same - Emailed several dealers, more than one time. Never received a single responce! They're selling Boomers w/o the need to answer email (and many don't even know how!). Good Luck!

As for digging with the Boomer - It all depends on the soil. Just for the fun of it (and to see if I could do it), I dug a hole in my garden last fall, that with my TC-29D in the hole I had to climb UP to get out of the hole! It blew my mind. I didn't really expect it to dig such a hole. I had to use FWD & low range, (w/R4's) but it did it!

Hello, has anyone had any experience with a Boomer not starting because of the PTO thinking it's engaged when it's not? I've already reconnected the two wires under the left fender & checked the PTO fuse. With the lever disengaged, wires connected & a good fuse - the lamp is still on, on the instrument panel, and because of this it won't start. Any ideas would be a big help. Thanks, Donald

Sounds like all you need is a little WD40. The pedal is designed to be operated by toe & heel. It's not made to automatically return to the "not moving postion". However, lubed with WD40 will help it do so.

I bought my TC29D with a mid-mount mower and loved it for mowing anywhere the tractor could go. But... it interfered with my 3pt hitch, was hard to remove, blocked the underside of tractor, reduced ground clearance & was generaly a pain in the # when doing any other task. So I returned it for a 60" Land Pride FDR-1560 - And it's GREAT. I don't ever miss the mid-mount. Rear mount is a piece of cake to connect or dis-connect & I can mow closer to objects. IF... I were buying a tractor for say 70-90% mowing then I would have kept the mid-mount maybe, but I finish mow only about 20% of the tractors' use. Donald

You may need to mix sand with your seed to keep it from spreading to heavy. Works pretty good.

If it's not too late... you may want to consider buying the loader at the sametime as the tractor to save having to return it to the dealer later. As far as the D being worth the extra $. Yes! If later you added only half of the "Extras" you would pay more than you would for the D now. Some of the extras, sure you can live without, but... they sure do make Boomer life alot nicer. I love my 29D & don't know how I lived without it. Donald

Danny, I have the TC29D with R4 tires and love em! Mow about 4 acres without a problem. Most marks are made when backing in a turn. Even then next day they are gone. I don't think turf tires would last long in my pasture. Lots of thorns and saplings. R4's are great for Loader work too. Donald

Hey, Ya know size is one of those things that's different for everyone. I was planning to get a Kubota untill New Holland came out with the Boomers and then decided to get a TC21D. 27 Acres, 1/2 mile driveway, 4 ac yard, 10 ac Hay, 8 ac pasture. I figured the 21 hp would do th job. Ended up getting the TC29D with the Frontend Loader & I'm very glad I did. The 21 would have done the job, but the 29 does it much better, and with less work for the tractor. Size is like buying a truck. Three things to consider; 1. What will do the job, 2. what do I want, 3. What can you afford. It was taking about 7 hours to mow the lawn, now with a 60" 3pt hitch mower it takes about 2 1/2. One thing to keep in mind. I'd buy bigg enough that I don't have to rent. If I can't do it with my Boomer, I don't need to do it. I don't guess I really answered your question, buy maybe I gave you more to think about. Donald

Cutter, sorry to read of your TC29 problems! I have the TC29D, and it is GREAT. Other than road dust, I received it in mint condition & it runs like a top. Like Kruser, I love the way all the controls are so easy to reach & operate, the seat is super & the floor board is so roomy. I'll leave tools on the floor board while moving from project to project, and they stay there. You must have a very poor dealer to sell you a tractor in such shape, and not stand behind it. Was it new or used? Donald
