I spent about 10 hours moving 5 years accumulation of brush to the burn pile over the past two days with the TC40D and a grapple attachment that I bought from my Newholland dealer. I believe it is a Worksaver brand. There is a picture of it in the Northern tool and Equipment catalog. It uses the standard skidsteer mounting system so it is a quicktach design. I had to install longer hoses to get to the back of my tractor. It works great but it is heavy (over 700 pounds). The brush was matted down and packed so tight that is was nearly impossible to pull lose by hand. The grapple made easy work out of would have been a back breaking and two month long job. I would not want to install it on a smaller tractor than my TC40D. I don't have a digital camera or I would include some pictures.

Dick, What I meant in my reference to the scuffing problem happening in two wheel drive mode was make sure you know the problem was not related to four wheel drive operation. In four wheel drive every MFWD axle is going to scuff as the tractor goes through its turn. Its just part of the geometry of different size wheels all engage trying to move in an arc. But in two wheel drive the front wheels should be able to move without the scuffing problem. John Deere demonstrated that with the new style axle. I agree with one of the other posts to the extent the scuffing problem was overblown if you didn't your the tractor on turf. Loader/backhoe operators that seldom operated on grass never had much of an issue. But those of us who use the tractors to mow (I did some custom mowing with mine) you have to slow to a crawl in the corners and use about 30% of the steering angle to avoid ripping the customer's turf. This required several front to rear cycles using the limited steering angle to avoid the problem. The 855 I traded on my 4300 was actually more productive mowing despite the fact it wouldn't turn as short as the 4300. In reality, it actually turned shorter because you could use the full turning capability. I don't want to beat a dead horse on this issue but my opinion remaind unchanged. Get Deere to replace the axle if you can.

Jim, you may need to be careful with what you have in your beverage holder. About ten years ago I was mowing my yard with a cool Miller Lite in attempt to cut the dust from my throat when a car with a middle aged women pulled into the driveway. This was not at all unusual in that I live along a busy highway and people are always lost or runnig out of gas. The lady rolled down her window and motioned me to come to her. I assumed she must have been disabled due to the fact she wanted me to stop mowing and come to her car. I shut the tractor down and walked to the car. She in a very polite manner asked me if I was consuming alcohol while I was mowing. I told her that I had a beer. She was polite but gave me a lecture on the evils of operating machinery while consuming alcohol. I thanked her (not very politely) for her advice and she left. The do-gooders are everywhere, so be careful.
