Mark, interesting thoughts but, a little farther out than I was thinking.as far as patchng tubes, yes you can, I have done it. My friend used my tractor and drove over a 1" pipe and put it though tire and tube. It was challenging repair but I did repair both and contiue to use them. I'm ok on the flowers, wife dont have any.Wheel weights is a good thought but I would have to have how much (few hundred pounds),it would be a difficult thing to get off or probably would have to leave them on during a repair and still have to deal with the weight.WW fluid is about 80 cents a gallon, not to big of an investment, maybe, I dont know, thats why I'm asking for advice. The owner before me had them 100% filled with water, not good for my Wisconsin winters.

From what I have read, it seems that windshield washer fluid is the hot item for putting in tirs for liquid ballast.Wont eat up any metals,safe to use, easy to get, cheap and it smells good.

I have a 4300 with a #48 BH with no extra hoses on the PB other than the ones that it came with and have no clearence problems. What is the second hose for ? Another application for the PB ?. I can connect and disconnect the BH when it is on the tractor without problems. I believe the 4400 and 4300 are identical units except for the engine. I will agree the PB hoses are not the easiest to get at.

I also have a rig the same as yours and have not encountered what you described. Is yours under warranty yet? Even though it is a 1999 it still could be under the 2 year warranty time frame depending on when the unit was placed in service . You can take the serial # off it and take it to a dealer where they can run a history of your unit. On my used 4300 that I had bought from a JD dealer, the range lever would not stay in any range you put it in. So they put a bunge cord on the under side of tractor to hold it into C range only and said it was fixed and I didnot need the A and B ranges really. Needless to say , once I discovered what they had done I took it to a more reputible dealer and had it fixed right.

I have a JD 4300 that is still in its 2 year warranty time frame. I am the not the original owner of it and was wondering, after reading the warranty terms in the operators manual that it is warranteed to the original purchaser, if this still applies to me being the second owner of it. I would think that it would, still being in the warranty period. Has anyone else had to deal with this issue and how was it handeled. I have a few items on it I would like to be taken care of while I could , if I can. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

Thanks for the help on the front axle issue. It sounds like I should have it replaced I guess. My main intention for this machine which has a 48 BH and a 430 FEL is for trenching water,gas and electrical lines in backyards of homes and other tight places where I want to do least possible damage to peoples yards. I have rented almost every type of equipment you can imagine for this type of work and this machine works perfect for this. So obviouslly I will be making hard turns during backfilling
and not want to do any more damage to yard if it can be avoided.

Thanks Tom for the info on the cylinders. My research for this piece of equipment also went along with years of experience of operating anything from track type hoes to garden tractor types and this unit fits my needs perfect. I think I know why the rear tires are filled. Unit probbly needs ballast when backhoe is not on. Does any one know of any JD technical info sites?

HI folks,I am a new guy on the block. I have been reading all your posts for about a year and a half to resaerch my purchase of a used JD 4300 with a 430 loader and a 48 backhoe. Now I need some help with a few items, 1. unit is under warranty till 03/03, how do I find out what pips are done on it or needed. 2.Tires are filled with fluid, is this needed if used with backhoe on all the time. 3.All loader cylinder rods are dark in color, no leaks. Is this normal, any I have ever seen are nice and shiny.4. Unit serial #is LV4300H230690, what year might this be. Thanks for the help and I will sure need more advice as I go on.
