Clyde, that seems like a resonable price for the 1725. But you should be aware of several features (or lack thereof) of this tractor. If memory serves me I recall this tractor has a gear-transmission with no live PTO or diff. lock. Those are really the only differences between the 1725 and the TC29. Still if those features are not crucial to you, I would seriously consider it. Used compact tractors are not common! Good luck.

I have a Ford 918L 5' flail I bought for $1600. It was two years old. The ONLY used 5' flail mower I could find in my state. I like the fact that it does not launch projectiles like a rotary mower can and it is very compact--only sticks out from the tractor about as far as the box blade does. Thats very important to me as I trailer my tractor extensively, and my 16' trailer would be to short with a bush hog hanging off the back.

Wow, sounds like a wild ride. Glad you did not get hurt. My greatest fear when trailering is blowing a tire out. I hope to upgrade my tow rig (Bronco) to something similar to the Dodge ram. I also insured the tractor (just liability) through my insurance agent. Just in case it falls of the trailer and injures someone.

J. Dubbs, $14,700 sounds like a great price--if it has the live PTO. As Michael said that is probably a $200 - $600 option. I feel live PTO to be well worth the extra cost. I was used to a 8N pulling a brush hog, and belive me my TC29 pulling a flail mower is pure heaven. I can shift gears without waiting for the mower to stop turning. Either way you won't be disapointed in the TC29.

Cutter, I worked my TC29 with 7308 loader this weekend for really the first time--only have 8 hours on it so far. I don't know about lifting the front end off the ground, as I did'nt try that but I did dig a trench about two and a half feet deep with it. I was installing a culvert and the loader made quick work of the trench. By tipping the bucket down and lowering the loader I could dig. But I think that two to two and a half feet lower than the front tires is max. I hopes this helps.

After I figured out that the types of tractors I was interested in where refered to as "compact tractors", I used alta vista and simply typed in compact tractors and voila!

Yes, Ritchie Tractor still gives qoutes out of state but you will probably have to call them. I'm from WI also, and recently got a qoute from them over the phone, instantly, on a TC29. BTW I think the 1720 is still being produced, at least my local dealer said he could quote me a price on a new one. Good luck, let us know how you come out.

Local dealer quoted me $14921 for a NH 1725 and 7308 loader. Is this a fair price? Also, I forgot to ask if that model has diff. lock--does anybody know if that is an option or standard for that model? BTW the tractor has 80 hours on it. Thanks in advance.
