You say the heater core cools down quikely when the blower is turned on, sounds like the core is restricting the flow of coolant. flushing the core doesn't always fix the problem of having been plugged, forcing water through a couple of good passages can fool you to think that it flows good throughout, plus you already have it torn apart. unless you have a restriction somewhere else in the heater hoses, I'd say it is the core.

I understand your concern about the smoke. My stove is only 70ft. from the house, which is close. There have only been a few days in two winters that I could smell the stove if I opened the back door of the house. It just depends on how green and how wet the wood is. I don't even cover mine, I just stack it on a trailer that I pull up in front of the stove. The stove I have, you make the chimney as high as you want. The stoves that have blower fans only smoke for the first 10 seconds and then clean up. My last electric bill was $97 for 1254kwh. My propane is at 40% of 500 gal. from 10/04.

The fan clutch will not spin freely but will move when you turn in by hand when cold, when warm it will turn a little easier. Did you give the front of the motor a good bath to get rid of all the coolant that came from the water pump. Its good that you replaced the tensioner assembly, they do loosen up over time, not just the bearing. You say the sound got a little better when you replaced the tensioner? Try spraying a little water on the belt, if the noise goes away for a second, replace the belt and check all pullies to make sure they are clean, I know you already replaced the belt, but they don't like getting wet with coolant. Put a long screw driver to your ear to check for bearing noise, this is the easiest way to find your noise, compare all the pullies, you will know when you have found a bad one.

When you do your research on the stoves, The more water capacity the better, the stove i have takes 385 gal. because the fire box has heat transfer to water on all sides of it. At the back of the fire box there is a heat baffle that comes half way down that the smoke and not the heat has to go down and under and back up and out the back of the box to the chimney, seems to work good, you don't see a lot of heat coming out of the chimney. I don't cram the box full either, but rather a nice bed of coals with a camp fire size stack of wood once a day.

Thanks for the response , optima is a great battery, i would have to see about the mounting for that group size, but it would not be a problem to change, as long as the battery fit behind the grill. As for the corrosion problem, I noticed after a pressure wash that paint on the battery hold down and the frame was missing and rusted, but not the oil cooler. Took it down to the dealer and showed them, and was told that was minor compared to the other style battery that would gas so bad that it would eat the oil cooler very fast and would leak fluid all over your lawn. Asked about a fix for my battery,(the 6 cell cap with hose,) and was told that was the old fix and that I already had the updated battery with the screw caps. I don't understand why these batteries gas out so bad, when it used 99% of the time during the day, what could be such a big draw on the electrical system.

The engine does need to be removed to replace the oil pan on the PSD, not only because there is no room, there is no pre-formed gasket, only silicon. The stuff that Ford uses is so strong I doubt it could be separated while in the vehicle. The diesel tech I worked next to at the Ford dealer had a PSD on a stand, prying on the pan with 4' long prybar and it still would not come loose. (yes all the bolts were out) Only use the Ford silicon, it is grey in color and comes in what looks like a half size tube of caulk. Some guys refer to it as diesel silicon.

I forgot to add that the dealer is going to deliver it on Monday less the rear mower, when the mower comes in they will deliver that too. If any of the equipment has a warranty issue, they will make a service call and if they can't resolve the problem, they will haul it both ways for free.

That would explain the hp and torque difference. The brochure lists them both at 91.3 cid. My mistake for trusting the literature without asking somebody.
