I fully understand companies wanting to make a profit. My beef was putting American workers on the unemployment line and put the money they would hav paid our workers into another country. I fully understand the economics of a $2.00 per hour labor base. My point was to apply that labor base towards the asian market and let American customers be services by American reprentitives.

As this client was one of the "big 3" computer companies, (and ALL computer companies use offshore call centers for support)your business will be routed to one of these offshore locations (Manila, Bangalore, etc.). Most of the callers end up frustrated with the communication barrier (yes, they speak english, but the comprehension is different) or the to the customer's problems are not fully resolved - causing the customer to call back again (hence driving up the support costs for the computer company). The goal is "first call resolution" - meaning the customer's problem is resolved onthe first call. If it isn't, the computer company has to pay the representative to take the customers call again (and again...)

I have no problem with companies making profits via cheap labor - there is a HUGE pool of money waiting for them in the shape of China (where they wouldn't know the difference between poor customer service and world-class customer service). I'm just mad about American's losing their jobs (not just mine) to a foreign country.

Delivery is tomorrow - (taking Fri & Monday off) Quicke 710 - FEL. The tractor is "used"... 50 hrs on the machine, but the FEL is new. What is the difference 710 / 720?

The dealer replaced all fluids/filters and I asked for a replacement fanbelt (in case it breaks while his store is closed). The root rake looks like it came off a CAT Loader (5' wide and massive). I spoke to the palmetto bushes and told them that "their time is coming..." They fear me now. There is always a chance for yellojackets nesting in/under the palmettto, but since there is a cab I'll just keep her buttoned up.

The rear tires are filled with glycol/water (they still have all the little nubs on them) and there is already a skid plate (thanks TP posters for pointing it out that that is a good thing to look for). Please don't underestimate how much help your posts and pictures are. Lots of experience & great info here. I've got about 20-30 pics of things I need to put together - PHD stand & "work-platform" that fits in the bucket will be the first things.

This weekend will be spend with root rake on, popping up wild rosemary & palmettos and pushing them into a burn pile. The front of the property will look like a warzone until I get it graded (have boxblade and pasture rake).

With the cab on it, I can't go zipping under the oaks like on the IH, so tree trimming is gonna be a requirement. It'll take 2 people - momma to drive the tractor, me on the platform with chainsaw.

If you haven't poured the slab yet, run some PVC chases, front-to-back on the pad, to be covered by the slab. Pop them up and cap 'em off until you want to run electric, water, etc. It is much easier to do under the slab than up and across the roof.

I set aside one 12' X 12' area as a tool crib - for sandblasters, cherrypickers,jackstands, etc... things you don't use often, but need to remember where you left them last.

Mount your compressor AS FAR AWAY from the garage as possible... A small outhouse-looking thing is PERFECT for the compressor. Pipe the air underground to garage.

install radio/stereo (hang speakers from the ceiling). DO NOT put in a TV - the idea is to work oout there and the TV doesn't help you get anything done (except hide).

Get a used dishwasher out of the newspaper. Use it to clean parts/tools/etc. (great for greasy car parts)

Call your local board of education - they have a depot where they get rid of things from the schools - like flourscent lights / welding tables from shops / GYM lockers that make great POL cabinets - and the stuff uaually goes really cheap. (8' flourscent lights with bulbs = $1 ea...)

One local dealer has a SAME - Argon 50, I was impressed with the thing. I've got a '67 IH B414 now and don't want to go below 50 HP. The SAME is 50HP & 4WD, air cooled, well thought out and with a FEL, would do me well. Our county road dept has 2 SAMEs and runs the crap out of them. I spoke to their maintenance guys and they said all they have had to do is change fluids/filters - no problems with the SAME.
