My emergency backup/dirty job saw is a Poulan that takes a 40:1 mixture, and I've been using one of those auto-measuring plastic jugs to add the oil.
Only this time, I got my usual gallon of gas, then went to dump in the oil, and ooops... not enough. Like a little over 1/2 as much as needed.
I assume I could get away with a *little* less, but this is probably pushing it. Is there something else I can add to eke it out? Auto oil, bar oil, gearbox oil?

If you were useing a synthetic 2 cycle oil,you can go to 60 or even 80/1, but with petrolium oil it would be the end. Also ,regular motor oils have detergents and are high in ash, both of which will destroy a 2 stroke. ....
