Does anyone have any experience buying implements from Northern Tool. Specifically, I am looking at a 6' back blade ($300) and a 4' box blade ($245). These prices are half (or better) than what I find at my local tractor store. I would be using them on an 8 acre property to install a driveway and later move snow, level and put in a lawn, and various horse-related chores. Any thoughts?

Depends on where you live. After shipping costs a 5' box blade was just as expensive buying one from Northern verses a local dealer. ....

I bought a boom pole and a set of carry-all forks (both Howse) from Northern three years ago. They were then, and are now, useless JUNK.
Nothing was square, plumb or set up right. They had the look of being slapped together without the use of a jig... just eyeballed and welded. The forks didn't point in the same direction and the boom pole was so poorly designed it bent my top link. I couldn't even fix it and finally just took it to the dump.
I also had a close look at a King Kutter bargain priced rear blade recently at a big box farm store. Same story. Out of square, out of plumb and offset sloppy pin holes that allowed the blade to wag back and forth.
Bottom line: that stuff is cheap for a reason. Quality materials, proper engineering, good rigging and professional welding all cost money.
I walked away from the $279 rear blade and paid $750 for proper quality.
Yes.... do check those shipping costs. The shipping alone can double the price.

Thanks for the input -- and I guess I shouldn't be looking at their post hole digger either?! ....

Their PHD is not made by Howse. I beleive it is a Danuser which is a good quality product.
Compare the pics between Northern and the link below. ....
