pto belts

I have an hds 3165. I bought new pto belts but as soon as I run into any high grass it stops cutting. It seem as though the belts are too loose. Is there any way to tighten them? I've checked the belt on the deck and made sure it is clean under the covers. Thanks

I'm not familar with that model. Most decks with 3 blades have a belt tensioner pulley that is spring loaded. Sometimes junk and or rust gets it stuck. There is usually a cover over these belts that is a light stamping or plastic. If you remove the screws holding the cover on, you may find that allot more grass is stuck in there. You should also attempt to move the belt tightener and oil it. ....
