I am interested in buying a post hole digger for my JD755 tractor(20 hp). Would like suggestions on type and price. Only going to use on occasion, not commercial. Do the post hole diggers even work well with this size tractor? Any help would be appreciated.

I use a Leinbach auger on my JD955 all the time without any problems. Typically I am using a 9" bit but have used a 12". The key is to get an auger that has replaceable cutting edges on the bit, and to replace them often. ....

I use one on a 16 hp Kubota, and it works very well. AS already mentioned, keep the cutters sharp and free of debris. ....

I have a digger I've used for 30 years on hundreds of holes. I still have the origanal cutters, but I sharpen them as needed. Befor you start drilling make t 1 scoop with a shovel. You'll have a guide for the hole & you won't wrap grass on the cutters. With a small tractor there is plenty of power to run the auger. You have to be careful when the auger starts to being drawn into the ground too fast, it can kill the tractor & it might not have the hydraulic capacity to pull the auger out of the ground without turning the auger. ....
