I have a 10 year old Kubota L2550 4WD tractor with a lockingrear differential. After I engage the locking lever, it pops outwhen I start moving. Any ideas? I have been in 4WD mode atthe time.

Dave:It sounds to me like your machine is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, the diff. lock pedal should release as soon as you let the weight of it, and reduce power to the axle, otherwise you shred the ground turning a corner. Every machine I have ever ran worked that way.Ted. ....

I'm with Ted on this one. My diff lock only stays when one of the rear wheels is in a position to spin freely (ie. off the ground.) Then when it resumes straight and level travel the lever pops back out to avoid remaining locked when turning. Mine works the same way regardless of whether or not it's in 4wd. When I'm going over really rough ground or through nasty mud I just keep the lever pinned down with my heel until I'm through it. ....
