I am confussed about the differant type of chain harrows out there. Some have stationary tines on them and some have flexable tines. Some can be reversed and used the other way. What I want it for is chopping up horse manure in my pasture and lightly de-thaching it. What would be the best type for this use? Any brand better than another? Are there any on-line farm stores to purchase them at? Also the soil is rocky up here in Norwest Montana. I have a 2900 GST Kubota.

I need a sechmatic drawing for a Yanmar YN-146. The fromt PTO will not work. There is no battery voltage going to the PTO cluch. Never again will I buy some thing that I cant get parts for. The Dealer told me he could get what ever parts I would need in the future. He just did not bother to tell me they had to come from Japan, and cost a arm and leg to buy them.If any one out there in the good old USA has some information as to where I can buy this drawing and other parts PLEASE send e-mail to me.Thank You:James D. I think for your application of breaking up and spreading manure the flexible harrow is best. Sometimes these are also called "turf harrows" or "carpet harrows." Usually they can be turned over to operate as a basic drag for smoothing, and they can be pulled from either end. With the teeth down and pulling one way the teeth are nearly vertical and the action is aggressive. When pulling the other way the teeth are inclined less and the action is less aggressive. Some have a simple pull bar, but a 3 point hitch lift frame is also sold as an accessory on most models. The flexible tine harrow was apparantly invented for pasture maintanence by someone named Fuerst and the Fuerst company still sells them. See their website. You can also obtain these harrows from firms like Northern or from local farm stores. I use mine as a turf harrow on my lawn and to level the gravel in a driveway. These harrows are practically indestructable. ....
