Thanks,

Year and other info usually is built into the serial number. Unfortunately, my usual source of specs etc. doesn't list 1500's. The models at tractortips are all YM with a three diget model number and maybe a 'D' at the end. Maybe a 1500 is equivalent to one of these models and tractortips usually does describe the serial numbers pretty well. ....

sj -

I am going to go out on a limb here...If in fact the model of your Yanmar is in fact a 1500, rather than a 150D, it most likely is pre-1975 vintage. In and around the 1975 era, Yanmar changed from the xx00 model number id's to xx0D id numbers. Best guess without a s/n to support it, would be pre-1975. What other info can you tell us about this unit, ie.: engine hp, PTO hp, running train, etc. Perhaps a better assessment may be made after learning these items.

Late 70's. I never seen a listing by year for Japanese model tractors. ....

Isheaffer -

Maybe it is time for a different library card. (LOL)
Actually, even Kubota started tracking their numbers in the mid to late sixties - though primitive as it was at that point.

Most all, with the emphasis on most, tractors today are traceable back in time by their S/N or other I.D. numbers, Japanese included.

Did not mean to ruffle your feathers, as everyone read, I wrote that comment in a light hearted text. However, to reiterate:

One of the support mechanisms in place that offers this information - for a variety of non-USA made tractors and farm equipment, is put out by FEG. Another, though somewhat less comprehensive, is put out by Intertec.

The YM1500 was made from 1975-1979. the early green models have steel clutch housings. The later red models have cast clutch housings. My source is a Japanese tractor book. ....
