Engine running hot and shuts down after 30 minutes

Have a Cub Cadet that shuts down after about 30 minutes of mowing. Engine gets so hot that the left frame by the exhaust has the paint burned off of it.

Any ideas?

I wouldn't be running it to much yet. During the winter mice could have built a nest in the cooling fan, you could have an electrical problem such as the sparek being retarded. What model do you have so we might know what engine you have. They use several and they all have different quirks! ....

It might be good to know if the tractor was working normally last fall and the problem developed over the winter when it wasn't used. ....
