Now that our fruit trees are starting to develop fruit, the branches are drooping. This has made it impossible to mow with our JD 4100.Mainly because of the ROPS. Since Folding ROPS were not available on this unit, for some crazy reason. What can be done? Has anyone else experienced this?Is there a kit or something that will make this conversion somewhat easy? I've looked at models with factory Folding ROPS, and may consider fabricating something similar if nothing is available.

Just made a similar comment for the guy who had a Mitsu and was looking for a ROPS for it. Guess that guy doesn't want to pay the $900 bucks for the right one ordered through Mitsu., so he was looking for another ROPS (cheaper) that he could cut/weld/modify to fit his little Mitsu. For your info, ROPS are made to OSHA standards and they are magnafluxed, etc... to be extra strong. You start hacking on one and you may violate the design/integrity of the structure. Go ahead, how much is your life worth to you?? I wouldn't dare do anything to mine. Keith ....

Keith,Thanks for the advise, You mentioned a few good points. My preference would be to finda kit or something that would take these things into account. I looked at a Comparable MF unit w/ Folding ROPS. Aside from different tractor mounts, it would almost bolt onto the JD.My yard is far from requiring them. Or at least I hope so, I've been mowing with an AC 12hppiece o' crap for the past number of years without problems. I realize thier purpose and would not want to diminish the functional properties of the ROPS. ....

If you are mowing on flat land, remove it, keep it so you can reinstall if you sell thetractor later, this is what I did with the 4100 I had. I now have a 4300 folding. Richard ....
