Occasionally you hear about after-market kits or do it yourself conversions for adding PS but mostly for older farm tractors. I can't recall anything specific for compacts. For a do it yourself conversion, I think that 1:1 servos are in the steering linkage are used and sometimes automotive systems.

I suppose a priority valve could run a servo but I don't know enough about them to know how difficult it'd be to tie their operations to movements of the steering wheel. The PS system in my Ford uses a priority valve. The power assist is built into the steering sector and is triggered by thrust on the steering wheel shaft when it is turned. The system has it's own relief valve, also built into the steering sector. A sector for a 2wd tractor wouldn't have these features and something else would have to be rigged up (maybe the rigging needed is a standard thing and I just don't know it). I would think about engineering aspects. Adding power to a steering linkage would have the potential to break something. I'm sure I don't have the background to do a decent job of engineering a do it yourself conversion.
