Whats the best way to tend my L 3100 during the winter here in NC? I will probably crank it about twice between now and spring to boxblade the drive. Temps average around 36 degrees. Thanks Tom Smith

I would add some fuel stabilizer to the tank and try to keep it under cover or in a garage. Wouldn't hurt to keep a trickle charger on the battery and make sure that all the implements and FEL are on the deck and at rest. ....

If it's outside, secure a can over the exhaust and inspect rubber boots around shifters on the TX cover. Rain that gets in through a bad boot can end up in the TX. Most manuals have storage instructions and they'd be good to follow. Some procedures use an oily rag in the intake manifold but such things have to be remembered before starting it.
Myself, I start my tractor and generator at least once a month and work them a bit even if there's really nothing to do. It seems easier than going through the storage procedures and the tractor also is always ready to go when I need it.

An after-thought or two: I also connect a 1A trickle charger for a day or two periodically as well as keep the fuel tank topped up to minimize condensation. Working the hydraulics till the oil comes up to temp also helps get condensation out of the TX oil. I always use a 'one additive does everything' so fuel stability isn't an issue. I'm not sure that it's a huge issue anyway except for condensation. ....

The winters in North Carolina are not that tough as compared to our NY winters but it does do good to prepare. The ideas given are right for cold weather, a trickle charger on any battery that sets helps it stay alive longer. The cover is good as that keeps rain and snow off the controls. On some of your warmer days I'd remove it just to let the moisture out that might build up if it is a vinyl or non breathable cover. The tractor can easily live in your climate without any of the above precautions but you will find it will live longer and be more enjoyable during it's life. ....

I just saw I put L 3100, its a L3010! Anyway, the charger
will be hooked up soon, and the cover allows it to breath just fine. I basically did the same thing last winter but knew you guys would have some good ideas to add, such as the charger and fuel stabilizer. ....
