Hello to all,I just purchased a new 1998 jd 1070 tractor. I think its great but have two problems someone may be able to help with. First, the vertical exhuast pipe, I mow and bush hog around trees and this is getting in the way. JD parts has a $17.00 part that makes it horizontal. That will help but I am told it turns toward the front and worry it would still catch limbs. Does anyone have experience with this or advice? Help?Second, it has a fixed ROPS and will not fit in the garage. Also, the ROPS catches limbs bush hogging around trees. Any suggestions? I am considering fabricating my own folding apparatus similar to the 4000 series. Is there and easier and safer way?Thank you in advance. This board and everyone has been great.James Dominici

I have the same problem with my ROPS (have enclosed exhaust on my L1030) so I get in as close as I can and then come back with my lawn tractor. I ahve about 40 acres in 2 fields that I do this with and it works pretty good....better than trimming all the branches.I would not mess with the ROPS, you may need that to save your life someday!Good luck ....

A.J. and Doug,Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I have alot of trees. So I may just trim the ones in the yard. I think the factory horizontal exhaust iwll work. The muffler is under the hood its just the pipe sticks up on the present vertical exhaust at least as high as the ROPS. Thanks. Are there any 1070 owners who have experienced this problem?James ....
