just joined the board, but have been reading for the last 2 weeks. great information. i am going tomarrow to look at the jd 790 with r4 tires,joy stick and new 419 fel. dealer says he wants $14,750.00, how does that sound?

That is pretty close to the price I was quoted with the same equip 4WD. I have heard nothing but good things about the 790. They are just a plain-jane tractor which aint all that bad 'cause there is less to go wrong with them. I'm chomping at the bits to but a 4310, but should stay with the 790 myself.. Good Luck ....

That is the going price in my area for a new 4100 plus FEL and maybe a post hole digger. Other than the plain jane simplicity of the 790, the other selling point is (like the 4100) it is a purely Japanese product. The only drawdack to the design that I have heard about are the dry brakes. Check some recent posts for details, but that would not be enough to scare me off of one. ....

THATS A GOOD PRICE BUT MAKE SURE HE THROWS IN THE MID PTO AND HAVE THE TIRES TUBED AND LOADED,I LOVE THE 419 FEL IM GOING TO BUY THE FORKS SOON!!!! AS FAR AS THE BRAKES ARE CONSERNED, I DROVE BIG TRUCKS FOR A WHILE,AS LONG AS YOU USE THE RIGHT GEAR,ENGINE SPEED THERE SHOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM.
REMEMBER SEMI'S DO NOT HAVE WET BRAKES AND MOST STILL USE DRUMS.!!!!!!! ....

I've got a JD 790 with 325 hours in excellent conditions, garage kept with a cover. Has turf tires and 5' mid mount mower deck. I purchased it in 1999 for $13,900 and have used it 95% of the time for mowing. Looking to get $10,500; moving up to a 4310. ....
