Im looking at buying a L1500,owner says its a 1986 18HP
seems the model number would indicate its a 15HP.Also I

Go to tractortips.com to find out the particulars on this model. Very handy site. I have a 25 yr old B series that is a wonderful companion, so good luck! ....

Tractortips is a good source of stats, although I have noticed a few errors. I rely on it anyway.

Although there's no guarantee that model number indicates power, there's a good chance that 18 is engine HP and 15 is PTO HP. PTO HP is a fairly standard way of comparing tractor power. Engine power is less comparable in terms of the work a tractor can do, because their are large differences in transmission efficiency and traction. If I say that I have a 24 HP tractor I mean PTO HP, and I think that's fairly common.

Good chance manuals are available from a dealer. Yesterday's tractors (ytmag.com) does sell manuals for many tractors on-line but I haven't seen them.
