Trying to decide which way to go. I've looked at the Cadet 7360SS and the New Holland TC40 and am undecided.. What ever I buy will replace a very tired MF 135 and will be used to plow (using a ford 2 bottom) 5 acres, bush hog and haul a few trees out of the woods The best I can do in the Lynchburg, Va area is $14,600 for the Cadet and $14,700 for the NH TC40. Would appreciate any comments on the pricing and your thoughts on which tractor is the best. Thanks, Rich S.

Rich, I think they're both good tractors and the price is so close that it might come down to just deciding which of them is most comfortable for you, or which dealer you're most comfortable dealing with. However, if you ever decide to sell or trade it, I do believe (and don't know for sure) that the resale value will be better on the New Holland. ....

Rich, I've been a Cub Cadet fan for many years and use the product commercially with success. Bird, who I'm glad to see is still participating in this forum (because in mho is a gentleman as well as knowledgeable), has hit a good point. Resale may be a problem either way, depends on how strong either brand is in your area. Up here in Yankee Land the Cubs are selling used for near list price if properly cared for. A few things to consider are; there is no "super steer" feature for the Cub, and its 3pt hitch is not as sophisticated as the NH. What the Cub does have over the TC, I believe, is its 4cyl. commercial diesel, and a Sims hard cab option. The 7360SS is the only Cub model that takes a "full" hard cab, that is a cab with all steel construction including doors. The cab may not be of value to you in your area, but up north the draft free seal and hot liquid heater are very welcome from Oct. to May. Whatever way you go you'll have a quatum leap from what you are running now. Drive each one if you can, ask the dealers if they have a demo model you can use at home. Actually working each one will tell you a lot. Good luck. ....

I would drive both and let that be the deciding factor. The super-steer does cut the turning radius but if I'm not mistaken they need that to keep up with the rest. In my book the more moving parts, the more that need to be replaced in time, so see if you really need it first! ....

the supersteer front end gives these tractor the best turning radius in the business. the regular front end competes with all the others as far as turning radius goes. as far as extra moving parts it the same axle as the standard front end the only difference is a suspension with a pivot point so not really many extra parts. Curtis tractor cab also makes a fully enclosed steel cab with hard doors and lots of glass area with heat for this tractor. ....

Thanks for the kind words, Ted, and I don't really have any first hand knowledge about the resale value of the Cub Cadet, most hearsay, it just doesn't seem like there are very many of them around here. My Kubota dealer used to also stock Cub Cadets and told me the Cubs cost more new, but are worth less used. He still stocks and sells Cub Cadet riding mowers, but not the diesel tractors.
And Art, I've never been able to see a need for Super Steer on the New Hollands (or bi-speed turn on a Kubota); don't think I'd want it and agree with you that it just seems like that's something else that might have to be fixed someday. HOWEVER, I've never used a tractor with it; maybe if I did I MIGHT change my mind.LOL ....

Thanks to all for your valuable input. Seems as both tractors will do the job. The Cub Cadet dealer is 26 miles distant. Run by a father son team, both good people, the father is about to retire and I am a little aprehensive the son might drop his dealership. The NH dealer is a 47 mile drive and has been in business forever. This might come down to a coin toss. Again thanks for your thoughts. Rich S. ....
