Wow! In the early 1960's the 4010 was the next to largest tractor in the JD line. Making about 100 horsepower and weighing 4 or 5 tons.....They are real classics. Major earth-moving power. About the right size if you have a few hundred or more acres under cultivation. It will NOT fit under the car port, but that DuAll loader should be capable of hoisting the family compact sedan and stashing it somewhere up out of the way. Hmmm... I'm thinking that you are not familiar with those old farm tractors and maybe you are expecting that it looks like the modern 4000 series of compact diesels. If this is so, are you ever going to be surprised when you see it! Frankly, if you need that much tractor I'd hold out for a 4020. They had several worthwhile improvements. Back to the 4010: at $6K with a loader, the price is between "about right" or even "a little low" for a worn out and beat up ol' 4010. I'd be a bit suspicious. ....

There is much to look at on those tractors, does it have the power shift or syncro transmission? Roger is right about the improvements in the 20 series. Depending on your uses you did not say as to gas or diesel but the later needs a BIG heater to start below 30 degrees. At the hours has it been rebuilt yet? ....

The price is not bad for that size of JD. However, the hours are quite high. Most tractors of that size are near the end of their life with that many hours. Has it been overhauled? New clutch? Condition of hydraulics? PTO clutch? Condition of tires? Wide front end? I would be concerned with that number of hours unless it has had a close examination. 4020's were more popular than 4010's. An excellent condition 4020 will bring about $10000 to $12000 in my area. ....
