Well, since everyone here was so helpful with my tractor buying decisions I thought that I would share the deal I just made. I purchased the TC25D W/ R4's for $14,000. NH 7308 FEL for $3300, and a Great Bend 751 Backhoe with subframe for $5400. $22,700 for the package. I will also be buying a Woods 72" rear discharge mower for $1700 from the same New Holland Dealer. I thought that the final figures were fair and I really like my dealer who is within 10 miles of my house. Hope that this info may help someone else with their future purchase. I looked at the TC29D and liked it but I could not justify the extra cash (as small as it was). Now I must wait for a couple days for them to put on all the attachments and make the delivery!

Congratulations Mark. Now the fun starts, and for God sakes, don't hog it all to yourself. These machines are too much fun to be left idle, let everyone in the family have a go at it. My wife, who is handicapped, wouldn't go near my gear drive machines. Every time I needed an attachment she would question it severely. When I brought home the hydro she reluctantly decided to try it, now she runs it a lot and loves every minute. The upside? Whenever we need something new for it, she is the first to find a dealer and the lowest price. Best of all, she has become involved in a healthy activity that strengthens our bond. Tractors can rip things apart, they can also move things, and people, closer together. Enjoy! ....

Ted, you have your own personal tractor shopper? That's amazing. I thought only rich city folks and celebrities had personal shoppers. Of course your wife realizes that shopping for tractors and their accessories is half the fun. My wife has not discovered the joys of the tractor yet, probably because we're still at the "man stuff": backhoe and loader excavation and stone removal work. (add Tim Allen here: "Ugh, ugh, ugh") But I predict that as soon as I detach the backhoe/loader and put on a belly mower, we'll be seeing a lot more equal opportunity in the household. It just makes the work too fun. ....

Mark,

Congrats on getting a really nice setup! I have a JD4100, no NH dealer in my area, but I have to admit that I am partial to those Blue Belles - they're some pretty handsome looking tractors...

Ted makes a really good point - it'll be to your benefit to involve everyone in the family as much as you can. Not only will you have someone to mow the grass come flyfishing time, you can also make sure that everyone knows how to be safe with your new tractor. The only thing potentially more dangerous than a tractor is a chainsaw.

My wife has become MOST fond of Ms Jenny (the JD4100 tractor). Not long ago, she suggested that I should give her Ms Jenny, and go buy myself a JD4400. Gosh, I love that woman....

Happy tractoring :-)
