Gentlemen,I'm purchasing a 1986 MF 1030 shortly and have read the postings on some of the problems you or someone you know have experienced. Any new info you can share. I was excited to be getting the tractor but now getting aprehensive. Mine has a 1016 front end loader and a Kelley B30 backhoe.Paul Cormier

I purchased a 1987 MF1030 in the fall of 1999. It had 940 hours on it and now has about 1010. It has worked great. I like the low speed of the 12 gears for maneuvering in close. I filled the rear tires with CaCl which is supposed to reduce load on the front wheel drive. I did notice some water in one of the front gear cases but it was clear when I changed fluid again a year later. It is probably the seal and could be a problem if left outside or worked in deep water. The tractor starts instantly even in the cold weather (-20F) and has plenty of power for my 5' woods mower and MF1016 loader. Everything seems well designed and solidly built. My only possible complaint is that the bucket could tilt a little faster when the engine is idling.
Have a good time with your new tractor,
Bob Snyder ....

Thanks Bob for your info.
My tractor is having a full service plus a new starter and starter housing,
clutch, pressure plate, seat, hoses (backhoe and frontend loader)also new
pins for the loader and backhoe before I pick it up. I'm hopeful that it will
be a tractor that's dependable. I have 12 acres to play on and I'm anxious to get going.
Thanks again,
Paul ....
