What is a fair asking price for a '59 Cub Lo-Boy with quick hitch option, 2-bottom plow, harrow, L22 sickle bar, snow blade, rear lift box, and chains worth. We need to overhaul the clutch, but would have it repaired before listing it. The tractor has always been barn stored and is in exceptional condition.

Ted I can fix that clutch problem for you without any problems. Your tractor in this market area will bring 2500 as is, with it worth from 3500 and up fixed depending on condition. ....

Art's price is a bit on the high side for the south central Michigan area. The Cub Lo-Boy does not bring as much money as the Farmall Cub. A nicely restored Farmall Cub could bring as much as $2500 to $3500 here. I've been watching the auctions lately because I want a Farmall Cub. I hope this helps you. ....

What many people on this board fail to realize when they give "values" of used tractors is that their particular values are "regionally sensitive". Ex-.. A Ford 8N in Northern Maine may be worth $1500 f.m.v. where the same tractor in Ocala Fla, may bring $3000. w/over 20yrs. in the equip. business, we offer appraisal services for dealers, banks & individuals. We often see vast differences in value between 2 states 50 miles apart. A JD dealer might value a Kubota a lot less than an older less desireable JD ....

Jim, I agree with you about tractors having different values in different places, though I do think that most people on this forum realize it. Every once in a while someone will get together a load of old utility tractors and bring them out to the West where they bring higher prices - up to double. Most of our old tractors were for large acreage wheat farms. There just never were many farms less than 160 acres out here - and few that small.
As far as the '59 Cub goes, as Art says it is a special type of tractor. There are several owner/collector groups dedicated to this particular tractor and you can get top dollar for a nice original example. People who want one are looking for things like original attachments and non-rusted sheetmetal....plus an engine that can be made to run again....in short, they are looking for a special project. The clutch won't bother them at all.

Jim I'm right in the middle of things here and we cover about four states with ag equipment and I'm roughly one hour away from Ted who was asking about the prices. I think I gave him a fair idea of value of his tractor and equipment for this area. I to am aware condition makes a lot of difference in pricing to. I was useing a reference of a cub-loboy we sold equiped close to his this spring as far as fixing his price. ....
