Thank you Jim for your reply.I have the opportunity to purchase a john deere 31b post hole digger at a very reasonable price.I explained this to the sales person at the dealership. He informed me that the 4100 was not durable enough and I would be much better off buying a 4200. He explained the durability concern of the 4100 because of its extensive use of aluminum castings.I can understand if you were to use a 24 inch auger! My plan is to go only to a 9 inch size max.It was also explained to me that this is also the reason a backhoe is not offered or recommended and an after market backhoe will void the warranty.Every thing I have read about the JD4100 has been very positive and it seems to be a versatile machine.I am just trying to decide if I should should move up to the JD4200.Any advice from owners of these machines would be of great help! Thanks for the advice and help.
