Broken;
Yes, it's been a while since you've been around, welcome back.
The pull type spreaders I've used would need a 60-70 hp. minimum size tractor if all conditions were ideal, like dry fields, no wet spots, steep inclines, etc. The size load you put on it has a great bearing on the size tractor needed too. With ideal conditions a 60 - 70 hp. tractor will handle a couple tons of product without much strain.

I will join with Frank and Dennis, glad to see you.
I read you will be pulling 6 ton load and have used about same load with two wheel pull spreader with tractor as Frank recommended with no problem. Fields were dry and are flat. Will tell you if I still had full size four wheel drive pickup could have pulled it with it in low range. All my thoughts are this is a pull spreader and needs no hyd or pto power from the tractor. All power it needs from spreading is supplied through the drive train. ....

I would say it's more as Frank alluded to, field conditions.
On our turf grass crops, we use a 40hp class of machine, but it's as flat and hard as a billiards table and compaction is a huge issue.
On our rolling fields, we use a 80-100hp unit.
If you think it's going to be an issue, you can always ask them to only load 1/2 the fertilizer in the spreader and do it in 2 runs.
Best of luck. ....
