Just wondering, who has gone the longest, in hours without any repairs to their compact diesel engine? And what was it? Disregard normal oil/filter changes/preventitive stuff, I'm looking for hours till broke parts!

My Kubota B8200HST, when I traded it off, was ten years old and had almost 1000 hours on it and it had, during that length of time, required the total replacement of a tachometer cable ($9.95) and ran as good as the day it was purchased new. My present John Deere 4400HST got all the way up to 8 hours before the PTO locked up and required repair and 100 hours before the transmission required replacement. While the Kubota did not set any real records, I can still take a great deal of pride in its quality and dependability during its ten years of proud ownership. The JD may have set a record of a different type. Mike S. ....

Since new in 1988, my Ford 1720 with manual shuttle and 7108 loader has had only one minor problem. The foot throttle cable loosened up or became dislodged in some way. Took the dealer about a half hour or less to fix it on a routine lub service visit.

A bulletproof machine. I am close to taking delivery of a NH utility size tractor (TN90F) and wonder if Fiat has maintained the reliability while improving the technology a great deal.

Time will tell.

Bought my Yanmar 4wd w/factory loader from the dealer in 1981 or 82. It was a demo with 20 hours on it. I've used it as my miniature construction machine - doing excavation mostly through gravel and rock. Several foundations, a road, a pond, landscaping, clean corrals, 4 cords of firewood each year, re-route a small creek...things like that. I don't mow with it. It needed brakes after a few years. The shoes had worn out because the drums were moisture pitted. Yanmar provided the parts and labor for free - even though it was out of warranty.
In 1988 I re-upholstered the seat. In 1988 it needed a new battery. A few years ago I put in the third battery.
Other than oil and filters once every year or two that is all. It never has needed any other new parts. It doesn't leak or use any oil. By now it is a member of the family.
