Need help in finding a regulator for a Shibaura SP 1540. The number on the old one is RS 5101. It is a 12 v typeHas a 6 pronged harnes coming off of it. I thought my alternator was bad but turned out fine. I tested the leads to the alternator from the regulator and got a .1 volt reading. How can I test the regultor, or is that what I have donewith the .1 volt reading. This all started with my battery light on my dash lighting up and going off occaisionally. Lately it hasa stayed on. Have already replaced trhe battery. This made the light go off for a while. Tracto runs without the regulator but isn't charging sincemy alternator is disconnected. Thanks

Good chance that Ford used that engine (I don't know how to spell it either) in one of their 80's compacts. There should be an engine ID number stamped on the side of the block.
A New Holland dealer should be able to tell if it's an engine they support, and there's a good chance the regularors would be the same. ....
