Has anyone had experience on which tires work best in snow; Ag or Turf, for snowblowing and loader work?Doug

I use both for loader and blade work in the snow and for pulling a trailer full of firewood. The turfs are no good in the snow at all. Ags are OK until there gets to be some ice under the snow or until the snow gets really deep. Then I put on the chains. I have chains for both, and Ags plus chains might give a little more traction than Turfs plus chains.....but it is almost too close to call. I like the turfs plus chains because the ride is better.
Don't have a snowblower, so I can't comment on that. ....

Hi - I've done a lot of snow plowing using the loader and a rear blade on my J-D 770 MFWD with turfs, and have not been in a spot where I couldn't get out of. Have done the sane with a vintage J-D and rear blade, and found the ag tires just don't have enough ground contact. ....

I have turfs, 4wd, loader, blower & weigh about 4,000 lbs. There is about 300' of gravel. I can't comment on a comparison with Ag's. However, I expected to get chains this winter, but didn't.
There never was much of a problem with the turfs. The loader will push 2' of snow for 10' or so before the traction breaks. That's enough to clear out areas where I need to maneuver to get the blower going. There is a minor problem with side slippage on the front wheels in tight turns. ....
