Has anyone with a 4200-4400 HST tractor had problems with their hydro transmissions slipping while backing down a hill, such as found on a pond berm. Mine will slip for a second and then catch and two seconds later will slip for another second and then catch... When mowing around trees and slowly traveling in reverse or forward on fairly level ground, the tractor will do the same thing. Also, when mowing around trees or other objects, and the forward and reverse pedals are used a lot, after moving backward in reverse and letting up on the pedal, the tractor stops instantly instead of quickly slowing and stopping. One last transmission issue is that about once a week, when traveling forward at full speed in second range axle and letting up on the forward pedal, the tractor freewheels and just keeps going for a few seconds before it starts to slow and stops. Have any of you experienced any of these issues, have any ideas about their cause or have had any of them corrected by your dealer? When my tractor goes in for a fogging dash replacement, new front axles and some other minor fixes, I would like to have the transmission problem fixed too and welcome ideas from any of you with similar experiences. Did you ever find out what was causing this? I've just experienced many
of these problems, and they have just ordered a new transmission for my
4200 4wd hystat. They found a couple of bearings were gone, which in my
mind does not explain all the symptoms.
