I have a B-2100 and am looking for a roto-tiller. Has anyone used a 60 inch tiller on a B-2100? The owners manual call for a 42 inch tiller but I can't find one that small. Have located a Kubota tiller 60 inch for $1000.00 owner says it has 5 hours on it and it is 4 years old but looks as new. Any comments on using a 60 inch tiller on this small of a tractor would be appreciated.

Robert, Buy that 60" tiller and if it's too much for your B2100, I'll trade you my Bush Hog RTS40 (40") tiller for it. I really liked this 40" tiller when I had a B7100, and it was just the right size, but now that I have a B2710, I'd like to have a wider tiller. Of course, I don't know where you are either, but I'm in central Texas (about 60 miles south of Dallas). ....

I don't know what the hp of a B-2100 is at the pto. I have a JD 4100 that is 20 hp and it runs a Befco 58" tiller just fine. Tractor Supply Co. has a King Kutter 60" gear drive tiller on sale for $900 or $999, I can't remember the exact price. The JD 4100 is only 16 hp at the pto (hst) and the only problem I had was that the drive shaft was too long. The instruction manual for the tiller told how to shorten the drive shaft. No more problems! ....

Friends, as I'm sure you're all aware there is a huge difference between 'can do it' and 'should do it'. Roto-tillers are one of the things that are often mixed between the two. Read your owners manuals and believe them, when they state the maximum PTO DRIVEN implement size. The reason is that the carrier (torsion) bearings that support the pto shaft are prone to failure if they are overloaded (as is the pto clutch) by something that is not equipped with a slip clutch. The time it would take to make an extra pass with the tiller is nothing in comparison to the cost of a rebuild....Best of luck. ....
