Many of you may still remember my search for a 3pt fertilizer spreader to work on my JD4100. My JD dealer called me about a hardly used (1 yr old) Herd M-96 broadcast unit for $200. It holds 200lbs, I was looking more along the lines of something to hold 300lbs to 500lbs. But I'm wondering if I should bite the bullet and save a buck. Is $200 a good price for this unit? What about Herd's 5.5 sand/salt model? Price? Guess I just can't see spending +$500 for something I plan to use once maybe twice a year. Thanks in advance :)

Michael, I owned a Herd spreader and did not like it because it had almost a flat bottom and it would not empty out.I to only used it a couple of times a year but it was a pain trying to empty the thing out.200$ is not a bad price if you do decide to go with it. ....
