I just bought an L2500DT new and am planning on the 50 hour maintenance. It takes about 7 gal of Kubota Super UDT fluid and I was wondering if anyone has subsituted any other type of fluid or had thoughts on it? I haven't priced it out yet but doubt it's inexpensive and thought it might just be their brand of hydraulic fluid. Any opinions/experiences would be appreciated

I'm lucky, mine only takes 3 gallons, and at $16 a gallon you are right, it isn't cheap. However, I would certainly suggest that you stick with it especially during your warrantee period, which for the running gear is 3 years not 2 like most other brands. Seems to me that if you ever did have a claim under warrantee, you might lose if you used anything other than what the book says.

I have checked into the Super UDT fluid, its a semi-synthetic--pretty good
stuff. But I am choosing to use a fully synthetic fluid from Amsoil
Tractor hydraulic/transmission fluid, it surpasses any other fluid on the
market and its a couple dollars cheaper than the super Udt from my local
dealer. I have written to the technical dividion at Amsoil and have a letter
of approval statement from them, stating this product will not void my
warranty. ....

super udt is 47.95 for 5 gal at my dealership.
udt is 29.95 Your L2500 could get by with udt,
but super would help in cold weather. Super udt was
for the gst transmissions to help them shift smoother. ....
