I am looking for a cement mixer powered by the PTO on my tractor. I have a JD750. I am looking for a capacity of about 1/2 to 3/4 of a yard. I have heard of a trailor mounted unit like this but have never been able to track one down.Any info would be appriciated, Thanks

Herman, Try Tractor Supply Company, both of my local stores have pto powered mixers in stock. They might have it on line also, I haven't looked. www.tractorsupplyco.com ....

I use a 1 sack cement mixer on my 755 and its about all it wants to handle. Hyd dump is real nice advantage. My mixer weighs 420LBS sand and water will be approx. 650LBS and 1 sack of portland is 94LBS,so watch the loaded weight when you chose a mixer. This is a 3-point unit. A cement plant can give you a break down of LBS of each material you'll need for your size of unit. I hope this will help you. ....

1/2 to 3/4 of a yard is alot of material, (1500 - 2300#'s), not counting the mixer. ....

Dana, what brand of 3 point mixer do you have? I've been wanting one of these for a couple of years now, and I plan to buy one in the spring. If you were to buy another mixer, would you buy a 3 point? Did you ever consider a more standard mixer with a gas engine on it? Any tidbits of wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. ....

The mixer I got was at a farm action, old but a very good one. my 755 has no trouble spinning the drum & of it's 3-point mixing and moving to the places you need to dump it is quite handy. By the time you get there it's mixed.I don't know what brand it is (green in color)Does this answer your question's?

SSB Tractor lists a 8 cu ft mixer. I would guess that my 3-point mixer is about this size and is about the size of the other 3-pt mixers that I have seen. My mixer is at the other end of the state, so can't measure it, but it seems to me that the drum is a something over 2 feet in diameter and something over 2 feet deep. At 8 cu ft, this would give you 8/29 of a cu yd, or a bit over 1/4 of a cu yard.
I bought my mixer at a local farm auction yard, there usually seems to be one or two at most auctions around here. It is not light, so remember to make a substantial allowance for shipping if you order it from a distant source.

Casey, I'm nitpicking here, but 8 cubic feet is 8/27 of a cubic yard, not 8/29. Therefore 8 cubic feet is almost 3/10 cubic yard (0.2963). ....

Let's see: 3X3=9X3=27 - Right you are, I guess my brain went home before I did that evening... Of course, since you could never fill the thing full (which I am assuming that the 8 cu ft measurement is taken from), your useable capacity would be somewhat below your figure, and possibly also below the "rounded down" figure I gave. ....
