I have 3 to 5 acres to mow, with some hills, trees and fences. Heard the front mowers are great around obstacles, but terrible on hills. Salesman says the 2210 with 62" mmm is great due to 4wd. Has anyone used the front mount mowers? Some swear that it is the only way to mow while others say a small tractor with 4wd is so much more versatile. Seems the tractors with mmm would be more clumsy for mowing, but good for snow removal, blade work, etc.

These two machine have very different functions. Having used a 1445 and currently own a 2210, the 1445 will run circles around the 2210 in terms of cut, trim etc., and just so you know, it's available in four wheel drive, but be prepared to shell out some serious money (I'm just giving the MSRP's and not actual selling prices, but a 1445, 4WD with 72" front cut deck is around ~$24,000 vs 2210, 62" MMM ~$12,500). Again, the overall function is so different (compact tractor vs a commercial mower), I can't imagine these two units really begining compared. If you are just mowing, the 1445 is by far a nicer unit. ....

jd2210 nailed it in my opinion. I have the smaller cousin to the Deere F1445, the F525. The F525 is not near the machine the F1445 is especially with 4WD but I use my F525 to cut about 5 acres of yard & driveway. On hills the F525 is fair to poor going up and down the hill. Going from side to side it does MUCH better however a fine tuned "varable placement buttox traction weight" or VPBT MUST be employed or the machine is helpless with repect to traction. Once you get the hang of it (no pun intended) it does a very good job. The really nice part about cutting on very steep slopes is that the F525 is nearly impossible to roll or flip over due to a very low CG. The machine will slide laterally off the slope rather than roll over if the slope is too steep and you have employed the limits of the "VPBT" I think you would have better performance with the F1445 but not on steep slopes as it has a much higher center of gravity. The F525 is no longer in production but the F687 has taken its place and has many nice upgraded features. They are a LOT cheaper than the F1445 and employ ZTR features as well. ....

If all you plan to do is mow, get the front cut. (I do believe you can get a snow blower for it however.) If you are on a budget and want a MUV (multi use vehicle), get the 2210 with a FEL and attachments for the 3 pt. I am sure that either will make you smile. ....

Does the 2210 have cruise control? How fast can you mow in a straight line with the 62"mmm? Someone told me to be aware of how limited the 3pt is on the 2210. Will it raise high enough to run a post-hole digger? ....
