I posted about bad glow plugs about a year ago on my CC 7265. This tractor was new and only had 12 hrs. on it. Now I have about 130 hrs. on this tractor and it hard to start now that the weather is cold. The fuel is new and good so I know it's not a problem. My dealer is going to pick up the tractor Wed. and check out the glow plugs. I have a feeling they are bad again. Last time they expanded so big we almost couldn't get them out. I was told by the dealer that they experienced some defective glow plugs. My question is could it be a coincidence that the glow plugs are bad again? If the plugs are what could cause them to go bad again. I don't feel that I can over use them. First of all I don't even use the glow plugs during the warm months. When I do need to use them when the yellow light goes out you simply start the tractor. The yellow light usually only glows for a few seconds. Any suggestions or things to look for concerning this problem? Thanks all.

My guess would be that you probably got a set of glow plugs that were from the same batch as the original ones in your tractor. What I'll call the old generaton glow plugs from the 50's and 60's were less than perfect. I don't currently have an engine that uses glow plugs, but my understanding is that the new generation of them are vastly better than the ones from the past. I'd ask the dealer if he can tell you if the ones he puts in on Wednesday are from the same source as the last ones. Best of luck. Frank. ....

It will be interesting to see what he finds! Years ago many of the heads they worked with for diesels were close to gas heads in design where today they have a more unique head design to the diesel engine. ....

I have a (1995) 7275 with 600+ hours and never had a problem. I keep it in a drafty shed with dirt floor. It starts a little hard when temp. is in the teens and below. ....

I got my tractor back from the CC dealer. Sure enough there were two bad glow plugs in the tractor again. It was like that when I had 12 hrs. on the tractor two bad glow plugs. I sure would like to know why they are going bad! I will question the dealer more as to any difference between these new plugs and the ones that were in the tractor before. I sure hope I don't have this problem again. I have owned this tractor for over one year now. The dealer said they would cover the glow plugs because I have had this problem before. They said glow plugs were only covered for the first year. I guess we'll see what happens now. I still can't believe I am having this problem. I owned a Kubota B7100 for ten years and never had a glow plug problem. ....

I forgot to ask if the glow plugs were the same as the ones replaced last year. Maybe they had a bunch of these left in inventory and pawned them off on me again! I will check today and find out about this. The CC dealership did say that the glow plugs didn't look abnormal but two were completely dead when he tested them. If I have this problem again next year I sure don't expect to pay for the glow plugs. I will change them myself it the dealer gives me new ones. It doesn't look like a hard job. In fact it's kind of like changing sparkplugs. I'll keep my fingers crossed. ....
