Seems REAL spendy for what it is.
If you don't need a piece of equipment to pick it up, it can't be worth $460. ....

Interesting design. Unlike a log arch it is self braking; lifting the load for movement and dropping it as it slows to a stop.
I am sure Red Green could duplicate it for a lot less money. Maybe a couple of metal trash can lids and some duct tape...........

Save some $$$ and go to your local junkyard and get a hood or trunk lid off a small car, put a hole through the part thats off the ground and run a chain through from the wheeler too the logs. Did that for many yrs. before I got a logging winch for the tractor. The trunk lid from a '70's era Toyota works good.

There are not enough beer cans in the make-up of the Samurai hood to do the job.
A '47 Packard might-could work. ....

It's a simple, clever idea, no doubt.
I guess the spendy part is to be expected, it's a convenience item.
Besides in contrast to the $297.00 they want for about 6' of tubing to carry the skidder on your ATV, the $464.40 they want for a 27 pound steel plate and some grade 30 chain is not that bad. ROFLMAO.
Best of luck. ....

I was thinking the same thing Murf. Looks like you could make the log skidder for under a $100 or for free if you have plenty of scrap metal laying around. ....

I was guessing about $100 too. You could make use of your tractor to produce that fancy bend by running over the steel plate placed over a rut. :)

Thanks for the chuckle guys. That's what I love about stuff like this. There is the press break way of making the part and then there is the farmer way of making the part. Grab a piece of crap metal that's handy, bend it using what ya got on hand (maybe press the cutting edge of a loader onto it or into it) and ya got your self a log skidder at reasonable prices. Gotta love tractor owners for being handy. ....

I think I know that guy. He also liked to sing, such as:
"Oh, your hands are connected to your arms,
your arms are connected to your shoulders,
your shoulders are connected to your body,
your body is connected to your head.
Oh, your head is connected to...
nothing... and that explains a lot."

He's actually become more famous as the author of the "Man Prayer" which is said at the opening of each meeting of the Possum Lodge.
"I'm a man ......
I can change ......
If I have to ......
I guess."
Best of luck. ....

If you look real close you will see that the (large) log being pulled in the second clip (going down hill) is a clean (no limbs) veneer (or smaller) log. What I am seeing is that, yes, it will pull it with out hang ups but before you pull one you better make sure that the log id very smooth with no limbs or knots that could hook something.
What really comes to my mind is how barbie can be driving ken around town in her car and they make it look Ohh Soo real! Then when you get ken home he seems real small and barbie, Hmm well she cant even drive that car half as good as she could on the comercial
