Does anybody out there have the same problem as I do when it comes to hedge trimming. I am looking for a hedge trimmer which I can mount on my tractor so I can cut hedges. This would have to be able to trim both horz and vert. any ideasDavid

Locate the Micro-Mower web site by using a search engine. They make articulated arm mowers suitable for compact tractors. They use a flail mower head and I believe they may have some other options for cutting heads. Good luck. ....

David, beware of what you ask for.... Anyone who has ever used an 'outrigger' type implement, backhoes included, can tell you that a VERY small change in the ground under the machine translates (and gets multiplied many-fold) into motion in the extended implement. This is NORMALLY no problem, however, if you are trimming the sides of a hedge, up near the top with the arm extended, and the tractor drops a 1/2" into a depression in the lawn, the tip of the arm may move a considerable distance. Trust me, I saw the outcome of this first hand when a municipal employee tried to trim the cedar hedge around the works yard with an arm-mounted (flail) ditch mower. The effect is NOT something you (or your wife) wants on the front lawn...... Best of luck. ....

Good advice. I looked at all the articulated machines and the cost and decided to mount my gas hedge trimmer on a board hooked to my Front-end-loader.I did it last night and the cut was perfect. Its actually two pieces of 3/4 plywood.
one is the base and the other slides so I can adj. the depth of the cut. It's hinged with stops so I can go vert. I will change it to metal when I get it just the I want it. Cost so far 62.00 and 3 hr fun. not having to climb on a ladder every 4 ft move ladder repeat process 20 times ----- priceless.

This Micro Mower looks like it might just be the ticket for me. I've got a seriously bad back that will not tolerate a weed eater (too much twisting while bent). With 400 feet of driveway side hill, this thing might work. I'd still have to get it by the boss though. Still, I have a shop full of toys, er..tools, 'cause she be believes in the "right tool for the job", bless her heart. Of course, she's Civil Engineer too and appreciates good hardware. ....
