I am interested in building a spreader for ag lime (not pelleted). The only plans I have found is the one you can locate on this site. Has anyone built this? I would prefer a different design using a rotating bar instead of a shaking bar.I will be using a Yanmar 1500D to pull it with.

Griz, I built basically what you are looking for, except ours is for spreading CaCl, not lime, but both are difficult to spread for the same reasons. I built mine as basically a steel box (picture a very small box trailer, an old small manure spreader would probably be almost perfect) with a power sweeper broom where the tailgate would be. The box can be tilted upwards by hitching on a drawbar in the 3pth, the broom is powered by a small hydraulic motor off the remote SCV, adjusting travel speed and broom speed varies how much is applied. The whole thing is about as simple as gravity, and works fantastic, VERY easy to load (with loader even) and just as easy to cleanup afterwards. Best of luck. ....
