My Ford New Holland 1520 will turn over fine but it will not start. It has new fuel. A strong battery. It has good fuel flow from the tank....through the shutoff valve....to the top of the injector pump. (I haven’t opened any of the lines from the injector pump up to the injectors yet).
I was brush hogging a pasture...it died like it was out of fuel.
Now it turns over strong, but just never cranks!
Before I pull the injector pump...is there anything electrical that might prevent this diesel tractor from starting and running?

If it is turning over I doubt there is an electrical problem. Either it is not getting fuel or not getting air. You might check the fuel shut off solenoid. ....

Ok, 2 points need clarifying for me.
First you say it died like it out of fuel. A slow fade out or off like the key was turned off?
Second, when you try to start it does it make any smoke at all? Maybe little puffs of blueish white smoke?
Best of luck. ....

Yes...just like it ran out of fuel. And the little puffs of smoke when trying to start it are more black than white. ....

OK, that's a good first step.
Black smoke is incomplete combustion of fuel and it can happen when just cranking if the injectors are firing but not enough to let it start.
The fact that the problem happened while you were bush-hogging makes me think you had some crud in the fuel system and the jostling around knocked into a spot where it could block a line. Check the tank pick up, fuel filter, etc., and make sure everything is clean & clear.
Best of luck. ....

Murf not to hijack this thread. But my tractor is over ten years old and I have no problems with how it runs. But I have black soot stains where the exhaust blows near some of the frame. My friend who owns a tractor said hey whats that? Soot.
I thought a little bit of soot stains was normal. It does not smoke while running.

greyhorse, you would be better off to begin a new thread for your question. It would get attention over the posting in this one. I look forward to the answers on why the soot also. My only thought is does it idle or run at low rpms a lot? Is the thermometer showing it reaching normal temp or running cooler than normal? ....
