Hi folks
I have a TZ24DA that turns over as usual but will not start. I noticed some oil underneath and discovered the dipstick had popped up and was spitting oil. Filled the crank up again with oil.
Now the engine spins as usual and there is smoke coming from the muffler, but no start up.
The fuel was low as well so I topped up the diesel too.
Is there something easy that I need to do here or have a seriously messed up this tractor?

You did not have diesel fuel in the engine oil do you?
Is it possible mice or such have built a nest in the air intake system? ....

No fuel in the oil and no mice.
I just put some methyl hydrate in the tank
Will wait and see if that works - ice in the lines/filters maybe? ....

Looks like frozen was the answer
Now I have another question. There's a hose sticking out from underneath. Obviously it should hook onto something. When running, looks like exhaust coming out of it under force. Is this some kind of recycling of exhaust for second burn? Where does it go? If I could post a pic I would- dunno how :( ....

Follow the hose back to where it comes from. From your description I think you will find it connects onto the top of the engine likely the valve cover. It is meant to be left open, this is the crankcase blow by that you are seeing. All engines even a new one have some blow by that has to be relieved other wise the engine oil will be forced out past the seals.
I know little about the latest in government requirements for diesel engines, perhaps they require the recycling of blow by, I've never owned an engine with the latest requirements.
