my rtv has 140 hrs.battery goes down overnite and when I run it there is a burning smell like wiring?

Salezmen,
An infrared thermometer is a very useful tool when troubleshooting electrical shorts.
Current flow creates creates quite a bit of heat. By using an infrared thermometer, you may be able to find the short very easily.
The next best method is to use the process of elimination. This can be done by removing fuses, which will eliminate certain circuits. With a simple DC voltmeter, you should be able to watch the battery voltage drop until one of the fuses is pulled. At that point, you'll then know which circuit is causing the problem.

Until you find the problem I'd be disconnecting the positive cable at nite! Off season the rodents often build homes within engines and eat the wiring! ....
