I currently have a Kubota B8200HST but am looking to upgrade to a larger unit. I found a L2850 4X4 with a BF500 loader with just under 1200 hrs (don't know the exact year though - most likely late 80's). It appears to be in good condition with no leaks. Can anyone tell me what a unit like that would go for? I think that I could get it for $7,000 but don't know if that is a good deal or not. Thanks in advance.

I currently have an L 2850 which is 4 wheel drive and I bought it 2 years ago for $7,000 with about 2,000 hours on it. It was beat up pretty badly cosmetically but it was a strong tractor. The one you describe sounds good for the price, depending on where you live. I am in south central Kentucky and I could get the $7 K for mine any day of the week from a couple individuals. But if I sold it, I know I would be hard pressed to replace it for the money. ....

Thanks for the email. The tractor seems to be in good condition and was stored inside according to the owner. The guy is the second owner and used it primarily to mow 5 or so acres. The body is in very good shape. Is there anything else I should look for or any issues that you have had with yours that I should check? Thanks again. ....

I forgot to add - I am located in Northern IL about 75 miles south of the WI border. I don't know if that helps or hurts the value of it. ....

The tractor has had only two problems. The first was all the electrical items were bad and the previous owner never fixed them, the lights, the shut off solenoid, and charging system. All easy fixes and done. The second problem has been the front wheel seals, which I have not fixed. I check the front unit oil level every so many hours and then just top it off. The leaks are small and even don’t appear to leak every time I use the tractor, just sometimes-weird I know, but that is what happens. The previous owner did replace the hydraulic pump before I bought it and I had no problems with it since I have had it.
It is a strong and dependable unit. I have since fixed all the cosmetics items and repainted it, so it looks like new and with 2,000 hours on it I plan on keeping it for a long time.
