I have a very old Wacker plate compactor with a deisel engine. I don't see any electrical connections, batteries
or glo plugs. the unit appears to be complete. looking for some advice and infomation. Does any body have any knowledge of this type of equipment???

It might be an interesting discussion if somebody know the unit. It might help trigger somebody's recollection if you knew who made the diesel. Any signs of an electric starter? I think other methods such as pony gas engines and maybe flywheels were used. Manifold pre-heaters and glow plugs are fairly recent. Some older engines had ether injection systems but combined with electric starters. ....

Jeff, depending on the size of the compactor, it is likely powered by either a Hatz or Lombardini diesel engine. The smaller units all had Hatz engines, and depending on the age, you say it is VERY old, the bigger ones were Hatz also. They switched to the Lombardini's on the bigger ones a while back, probably about the early 80's.
The Hatz company is still alive and well, by the way, in fact they have an American Branch in Wisconsin, see the link below for more info. if needed.
