I have a Cub 2086 with the Kawasaki 2 cylinder engine, I have a no start condition, no cranking. The battery is new and the safety switches have been checked to be ok. I also replaced the started switch, no crank issue still present. Can anyone please shed some light on this or and a wiring diagram that may fix this?
Thank You in advance for your efforts.
Tom

Just wondering do the lights work? If they do how do they react when you have them on and try to start the tractor? If they work and dim when you try to start the engine then there is current being sent to the starter system.
Meters to test the electrical used by most people do not test poor connections. The connection can be sufficient for testing by meter but not to supply the load needed for starting. Depending on your leads length you need a helper: test for voltage on the starter itself. If you have good voltage there then suspect starter issue. If not then back up to power into the starter solenoid. Many miss the ground and even the battery cables. It is easy to miss poor connections there. Take the cables off and use wire brush or rough sand paper to clean the connections do not miss the inside of the batter cable clamps. ....

Thank You for your reply. The lights do not work, the starter
has engaged once, engine ran until I disengaged the choke, (too soon), just after I replaced the starter switch. I have re-clean the battery connections along with the engine ground and starter connections, but when I turn the key nothing happens, the 20 amp fuse is good. Any other suggestions that you may have??
Thank You in advance for your reply.

This can be very dangerous and having a helper is great if so put them on the seat with clutch depressed and be sure transmission and the pto are out of gear.
Take jumper cable and run from the positive battery terminal to the power stud on the starter to see if will not turn over. You will be bypassing most if not ALL the safety switches so please understand the danger.
If your starter solenoid in on the starter you want the post going into the starter. If the starter does not turn over then it has to be: battery *could be bad or drained), poor ground connection, starter is bad or starter is locking to the fly wheel and is under load, or possible starter solenoid depending on if you ran the power to the right stud or not.
If it starts then something you are bypassing is the issue. You now use a 12 or 14 gauge jumper wire to by pass one safetey switch at the time and even the starter switch to find the one not work. Just hope you don't have more than one for is you do then it gets complicated. ....

Thank You for your continued help. I did jump the starter and it cranks strong, all connections are clean and bright, so my next step is to check the seat safety switches, (2), and brake safety switch, (1). I will let you know what I discover.
Once again Thank You for your input! ....

On one of mine there is a lever that is not properly adjust for the neutral safely switch so when I found it left it alone. A little built in anti theft feature.
So sit on the tractor, hold the key and work one lever at the time that has a safety switch. The clutch pedal, pto, gear shift, range shift. Take them one at the time and really wiggle them. Make not be moving into the full neutral position.
It crank up and run? May not have due to needing power to fuel cut off. ....

Up-date to my no start. I disconnected every connection in the starting circuit, and cleaned each one. I now have a running operating tractor. Thank You for your support. ....
