I have a front wheel seal leaking oil. When I removed the 6 bolts from Hub cover I see that someone before me used RTV gasket sealer or something. I can not seam to get cover off. How does one get this apart. Tried a screw driver and hammer. Metal is almost flush together and can't get between the 2 surfaces. Should I heat this up a little?

Those are sealed with black Loc-Tite from the factory. They are difficult to get apart, but no heat is required. I used a sharp chisel and hammer to start the parts separating and then finished prying apart with a small pry bar. I did have to file a bit of the mating surfaces to remove burs where I had chiseled before re-assembling the parts. I used the black Loc-Tite RTV sealer to re-seal it when I put it back together.

I found on my 6284 front end that the upper and lower king pin shaft bearings needed replacing. The rest of the bearings seemed fine. I also found that the repair manual called for two seals per side on the king pin housing to reduction gear housing connection. Since there are a number of 7000 series tractors I don't know if this is true for yours. I used a 7000 series manual for my tractor since Cub never published a shop repair manual for the 6284 series tractors.

The bearings are standard metric sizes as are the seals, though the seals have a dirt lip on them. My 6284 only had one seal per side from the factory when I took it apart but I followed the 7000 manual instructions and put two seals per side back in when I re-assembled it.

Answered my own questions. Had to use heavy hammer and block of wood. Took some pounding all around hub cover, then once crack appeared got small screw driver and opened it up the rest of way. ....
